Celebrating the Heart of Our Community: The Carers' Auxiliary

At BallyCara, our Carers' Auxiliary is a remarkable group of around 20 Residents and Volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to making a real difference in our Village.

Their work supports Residential Care, the Peer Support Group, and the Invigorate Group, embodying our Sona® Values by fostering connection, compassion, and a sense of purpose. This dedicated group believes deeply in enhancing the quality of life for others. A wonderful example of this is their effort to ensure every Resident in Residential Care feels the warmth of the festive season. By taking the time to understand each Resident's wishes, they will be gifting personalised Christmas presents this year - a gesture that brings joy and strengthens the bonds within our community.

These thoughtful acts are made possible through the Auxiliary's year-round fundraising efforts. The Carers' Auxiliary Shop and our much-loved Winter and Christmas Fairs are central to this success. In 2024 alone, they raised over $10,000, allowing them to enrich the lives of those in Residential Care and support initiatives like the Invigorate Group and the Peer Support Group.

This year's accomplishments have been truly inspiring. The Auxiliary funded the purchase of iPads for the Invigorate Group, opening up new opportunities for engagement and learning. They also sourced raised garden beds and garden archways, creating vibrant outdoor spaces in Sunnyside Villa where Residents can enjoy gardening and the beauty of nature.

The Auxiliary is always looking for fresh faces to join their team or contribute in other ways. If you'd like to volunteer or donate items for their shop or fairs, your support would make a meaningful impact. They're always in need of quality goods such as jams and chutneys, gift baskets, handmade goods and nicely packaged items that can be sold or used in fundraising activities. Whether you bring new ideas, time, or donations, your involvement will help keep this wonderful initiative thriving.

The Auxiliary's efforts are a collective endeavour, drawing on the support of various groups within our Village, including the Craft Group and the Men's Shed. Together, they demonstrate the power of community spirit and the joy of working towards a shared goal.
