Simple Steps to Switch
- Notify Your Current Provider: Inform your current provider as soon as you decide to make the move. This initiates the process, allowing them to support your decision by working with BallyCara to transfer your care details.
- Reactivate Your Referral Code: Call My Aged Care (MAC) on 1800 200 422 and ask to reactivate your referral code. Once reactivated, give this code to the BallyCara team so that we can officially accept your package.
- Align Your Dates: Provide your current provider with your intended departure (exit) date. To ensure you don't experience a gap in essential services, your exit date should be the day before your commencement date with us. This avoids any overlapping funding claims for your services.
- Finalise Outstanding Claims: Submit any invoices or reimbursement claims to your outgoing provider before your exit date. Under Support at Home regulations outstanding expenses cannot be carried over to us; they must be settled before changing providers. Your outgoing provider will issue your final monthly statement and any outstanding contribution invoices in due course.
- Prepare Your New Care Plan: To avoid any disruption to your essential services, our team will work with you to set up your new BallyCara Service Agreement and Care Plan so we are ready to start services immediately on your commencement date.
What Happens to Your Funding
- Your Ongoing Support at Home Budget: BallyCara can immediately access your remaining ongoing quarterly budget and Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) budget (if applicable) from the day you sign our service agreement.

Previously Accumulated Unspent Funds: If you were receiving a Home Care Package prior to November 1, 2025, any unspent funds held by Services Australia will safely transfer over to BallyCara. We can use these historical funds to top up your quarterly budget or put them toward AT-HM purchases if required.
Timeframes to Remember
Once you give notice to leave a provider, the government allows you up to one year to establish your new service agreement before the funding is discontinued. However, to ensure continuous care, we highly recommend setting up your dates consecutively.
