Marcus Riley is a member of the Steering Committee for the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People (GAROP) and immediate past chair of the Global Ageing Network. Recently he was also appointed as the Focal Point for the Stakeholder Group on Ageing for the Asia-Pacific region. As well, he is a Director of AMS an international development charity.
Marcus is Executive Chairman of BallyCara, a charitable organisation and public benevolent institution which provides accommodation, health, and care services for older people as well as a range of support and advisory functions to service-based organisations.
Prior to these current roles, Marcus has held numerous other key industry positions including Chairman & Deputy Chairman of Leading Age Services Australia, National Director of Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) and Retirement Villages Australia (RVA Ltd).
Matiu founded One Good Street, a simple grassroots initiative harnessing the power of community to encourage neighbour initiated care for older residents at risk of social isolation and loneliness. Matiu was named one of the top 25 most influential people in the Australian Social sector by Probono in 2020. Matiu is the General Manager, Infection Prevention for the mandatory quarantine of returned travellers in Victoria, part of the COVID-19 response and has a Master’s degree in Public Health and broad clinical and managerial nursing experience, including working in Tijuana, Mexico with Nobel Prize Laureate Mother Teresa in international border aid.
Matiu contributes to health system innovation through involvement with Better Care Victoria as a board member and as the Deputy Editor for the Journal of Health Design. As a proud Rotarian, Matiu mentors the next generation of undergraduate and postgraduate LGBTI science through the Pinnacle Foundation Mentoring Program.
Malcolm is a founding principal and director of a private, independent investment, superannuation and financial consulting firm, established in 1995. As an actuary and investment consultant, Malcolm advises investment committees of clients including insurance companies, superannuation funds, friendly societies and not-for-profit organisations. He also advises trustees of self-managed superannuation funds and individuals.
Utilising his actuarial background, his prime focus is on risk identification, awareness and management. Malcolm is also a founding member of the Indooroopilly Golf Club’s Investment Advisory Committee. He holds a Masters of Scientific Studies in Applied Mathematics.
Joanne is an experienced lawyer who provides strategic, governance, regulatory compliance and commercial advice to the aged care, retirement living and disability care sectors. She has expertise in Government relations and consumer engagement. Joanne is passionate about the need to change community perceptions of aged care and the valuable role older people play in our society. She regularly presents at industry and technical conferences and seminars.

Sharon has a breadth and depth of experience spanning 40 years in Health and Social Care much of which has been spent in the Independent Aged Care Sector. Sharon joined BallyCara’s Executive Team in March 2019. Sharon has held several Executive leadership roles within for profit; charity; housing and not for profit organisations. Sharon is a change agent. She is committed to helping people and organisations be the change they want to see.
Sharon has extensive experience serving on international boards as well as holding a National role in the UK to positively influence policy and outcomes for people who use services, organisations and the wider systems. Sharon is a skilled Speaker and has presented at National and International events. In 2016, Sharon was awarded a CBE in the New Year’s Honours for services to nursing and the not-for-profit care sector.
Paul’s career in the ageing industry has spanned two states, over two decades and across the spectra of service provider, industry adviser and public servant. With qualifications in human services and management, Paul is passionate about exceptional customer service, redefining ageing, enjoying life and a great cup of coffee.
Paul actively engages with key stakeholders across Australia and continues to contribute to national policy development and reform of Australia’s aged care system through his involvement with LASA. Paul is a member of the LASA Members’ Advisory Committee in Queensland and serves as a Board Director of ADA Australia.
Kate qualified as a Registered Nurse and Midwife in the UK & relocated to Brisbane in 2005. Kate is an experienced clinical & business leader with a broad base of knowledge & skills spanning hospital & home care/restorative programs, organisational leadership/management, education/clinical governance & service development.
Having achieved a Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership & Management, Kate`s goal is to ensure that the care & services her teams provide continuously exceed expectations through authentic relationships & evidenced based care.
For over 20 years, Trudi has held executive leadership roles and board positions in both the UK and Australia across health, education, retail and manufacturing sectors. She holds professional qualifications in finance, business and governance, with significant experience in leading corporate services and finance portfolios, developing and implementing strategic, financial and operational initiatives to enable organisations to flourish.
Trudi is passionate in enabling organisations to achieve a financially sustainable future and inspiring people to reach their full potential, using a business performance mindset to achieve both. She believes her purpose is to make a difference and believes that people are at the centre of everything.
